You GUYS!!!
Guess who got their 50th follower the other day??
So doesn't that mean I have to do a giveaway or something?
OK, you twisted my arm....
How about a $40 Gift Certificate from Hawthorne Threads?
I have purchased fabric from Hawthorne Threads several times and have never been disappointed. They have a huge selection of fabrics and always have the latest releases. But I think the thing that I love most is how user-friendly their website is. So many different ways to search for fabrics, sneak peeks of whats coming soon, and even a super-handy color grid so you can search for a certain color if that's how you want to shop. When you select a fabric, it shows how much is left in stock, all the information about the designer/collection, projects that have been made with that fabric, other fabrics in the collection, and even gives links to other fabrics with similar colors so you can find a coordinate.
Here are just a couple cute fabrics I found this morning that I would love to have:
Bottle Caps from Going Coastal by Emily Herrick |
Just Stay Little in Lilac from Children at Play by Sarah Jane |
Making Paper Hats from Children at Play by Sarah Jane |
Circles in Gray from Alphabet Soup by Zoe Pearn |
I used Circles in Green to bind my husband's plus quilt and I love it! The gray would be awesome as well.
Let me tell you this....I can't even believe that I am writing this post. To think that 50 people care even the slightest about what I'm doing or making blows me away. Completely unbelievable to me, but I am so very grateful! Thank you so much!
A little disclaimer....I hadn't meant for this to turn into a commercial for Hawthorne Threads, but I like what I like...Hawthorne Threads has no idea who I am or that I am writing about them on this little blog.
So, to enter this giveaway, leave me a comment telling me your favorite color combination. I like people who follow directions, so make sure you don't just say "Hey, give it to me...." or I'll take your name out of the hat.
For another chance, tell me your favorite kind of soup. It's chilly this morning so I think some soup is in order and I'm always on the lookout for new recipes.
I'll choose a random winner next Friday...Sept. 23, 2011. Be there.
Congrats on 50 followers! My favorite color combo is pale greens, blues (aquas), and browns. I just pinned yet another version of this combo this morning to my Pinterest board.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Fall soup is chili. I was just thinking about breaking out the supplies and making that the other day. In non-chilly weather I love anything chickeny, chicken dumpling, chicken noodle, maybe with a good beef barley thrown in there too.
ReplyDeleteYay for 50! Doesn't that feel great?! I love the cool colors, especially blue & green together, which is always great with some gray thrown in. Congrats, Toni! This is an amazing giveaway, and you'll have more than 50 followers by the time it's over, I bet! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite soup is one Tomato & Sausage Soup that a friend gave me years ago. yum.
ReplyDeleteHurrah for you! I'm not surprised one tiny little bit.
ReplyDeleteLet's see....my favorite color combination would be yes. That is to say I dont have one, I like them all. Arrange them like a prism and I get giddy. I find order very soothing. I can say that I have been curious to try a pewter grey with a plummy purple. I think they would be stunning together.
I'm not really much of a soup person. It doesn't get cold enough where I live, at least not very often. I do like the soups that remind me of being a kid...like tomato soup served with grilled cheese sandwiches or the soup we used to make by stirring and stirring the last of the ice-cream in the bowl. Didn't that taste wonderful?!
ReplyDeleteRed pepper and Wensleydale Soup is a must! Here's a great recipe:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1553655/red-pepper-and-wensleydale-soup
yum yum!
oh I got so excited about the soup I nearly forgot about colours!! I think my favourite is probably red and white or gray and yellow, autumnal colours or anything with green... better stop there!
ReplyDeletexxx
MMMmmmm soup. Today is very cold in Michigan, and the poor boy's bus was 48 minutes late! Soup sounds so good right now. How about chicken tortilla soup? Or chicken gumbo. Yes, that would be perfect. Ok, on colors, I always like heather green with plum. I don't wear a lot of purple bc I feel a little like a clown (I have red hair and the color can be garish). But I love foresty, heathery green with a deep plum.
ReplyDeleteHappy 50th! I actually started following you yesterday, but I just cut & paste the URL into my Google Reader subsriptions box, and I don't think it tells you then. So I just added you publicly. (I think!)
Yay! What a great giveaway, and congrats on 50 followers! I've been really enjoying seeing what you're working on, so I'm not surprised that others are, too :)
ReplyDeleteI have so many color combos I'm loving right now! I always love a good blue-green combo. And I just designed a quilt that is red, plum, and gold (good fall colors) and I'm excited to see it come together. And yellow and gray is so pretty, too! I think it's the color combos that get me most excited about sewing more!
My fave soup right now is a potato kale soup, we're trying to use up Kale from the garden so I think we'll make a batch this week!
ReplyDeleteCongrats toni! Try this - yummy!!! http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/4281/chunky+potato+corn+bacon+soup
ReplyDeletePs "I do notta think that word means what you thinka it means"...
ReplyDeleteColors - black and bright together - red if you made me decide!
Oh I love color combinations! I think I am in the baby blue and bright yellow mood :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Its a soup kind of day. Hmmmm, how about some baked potato soup!
ReplyDeleteHey, give it to me! Kidding...

Congratulations on hitting 50! I'm at 36...so not quite there yet, myself ;)
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite color combination recently is pink and brown. My first finished quilt was in various shades of pinks with a bunch of whites and browns thrown in - luckily for me, it matches the nursery it was meant for perfectly!!
My favorite soup, hm...I'm not really a big fan of soup at all, so I'm going to keep it simple and say tomato - made with milk, not water - and only if there's Ritz crackers or a grilled cheese sandwich to go with! :)
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a seafood chowder - does that count as soup?
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for the opportunity! My fave colour combo at the moment is mustard and grey.
ReplyDeleteMy fave soup right now is anything with thai flavours and coconut broth. So warming!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm stuck at 52! LOL Anyway, fave color combo? Right now is green/blue with a little yellow. Then again love orange and blue, too. Why must I choose!
ReplyDeleteButternut Squash with a little coriander, cumin, cream, onion. Mmmmm, yummy. Sweet with a little heat.
ReplyDeleteYAYyy congrats on 50 - i'm almost at 25 which will mean a giveaway for me soon!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love blues, greens and grays/blacks as my combos
Also, my favorite soup is cream of broccoli! or cheddar broccoli, yum!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your following and on such an amazing and generous giveaway! I love HT too and their weekly newsletter - so worth signing up to.
ReplyDeleteFavourite colour combo? That`s difficult but I love purple and green and pink and green.
Yum. Food. I like food. Soup? Hot and sour soup...the hotter and more sour the better!
ReplyDeleteButternut squash and red pepper is my favourite with mushroom coming in a very close second....some wholemeal soda bread is needed with it and a little cracked black pepper....mmm, I think I will be making this in the morning. Congrats on getting to 50! We are now not able to go into the Small Blog Meet.
ReplyDeleteOrange and blue are my favourtie combination at the moment Toni...I agree with you on the Hawthorne Threads web site. So easy to order fabric...a little too easy at times.
ReplyDeleteThat's fabulous! Congrats on 50. My current favorite color combo is lime green/coal grey. I'm so strange sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI'm *obsessed* with pumpkin. So this is my favorite soup: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/pumpkin-soup-with-chili-cran-apple-relish-recipe/index.html
ReplyDeleteWahoo! Congrats! I'm adding to your list of followers, bet you'll be at 100 before you know it! ;o)
ReplyDeleteMy fave combo is aqua and red - I just love the energy of those two colours combined. They make me so happy!
Favourite soup? Minestrone. I love that it changes with whatever I have on hand to "toss in the pot" and it's always hearty, especially when cool weather arrives.
My favourite colour combination at the moment seems to be orange and grey....or pink and grey....it changes all the time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I love so many color combinations that's it's hard to choose... I will pick blues and violets for right now. I favor analagous color schemes.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE homemade chicken soup, with lots of vegetables and maybe some rice or noodles, but not mandatory. A great cure when you aren't feeling well too.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite soup is cream of tomato and basil. And of course, either a grilled cheese or crackers to go with it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! I think my favorite color of the moment is teal/aqua and mustardy yellow.
ReplyDeleteFor soup, my fave is homemade cream of potato with crusty french bread. Horrid for you all full of heavy cream, but so delish!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 50 followers. My favorite color combination is turquoise and pale gray with a touch of yellow. Lovely. There is a line called Taza by Dena Fishbein for Free Spirit with these colors...yummy! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRight now I am craving broccoli cheddar soup. I have found Bear Creek mix (http://www.amazon.com/Bear-Creek-Country-Kitchens-Broccoli/dp/B000H25WMW) to be the best! I add a little fresh steamed broccoli. Pour it in bread bowls (when I can find them). mmmmm....gotta go...must run to store!
ReplyDeleteSo cool you reached 50! If I ever get there I was planing a giveaway, too. My favorite color combination right now is teal & pink (a little variation of it also intrigues me: turquois & red)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite soups is Indian red lentle soup with fresh ginger. Maybe I throw the recipe on my blog. Today I had my alltime favorite soup since I was a little kid: condensed tomato soup with alphabet noudles and little cubes of gouda cheese to melt in it!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteToni, congratulations gorgeous girl on 50 followers. I love checking in to see what's happening in your space! Keeps me inspired! My favourite colour combos are red and Aqua perhaps with a hint of grey or white! favourite soup has to be sweet corn and chicken. My mum has the most amazing recipe and its a must on cold wintery days... getting hotter here which is nice... no more soup til next year! Off to the races, hubby and I haven't had chance to dress up like this since our wedding! Have a fantastic weekend! So happy for you and your first 50... here's to the next! Keera xxx
ReplyDeleteHey, give it to me... ;o)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your half century, may there be many more (although perhaps not too quickly if you're doing a giveaway every 50 you get :oD )
My favourite colour combo (at the moment) following the mugrug and goodie swap, is orange, aqua and white, so summery, cool and refreshing.
My favourite soup is Italian Peasant Soup (first catch your Italian peasant...) which has a variety of veg, including fennel, and is quite similar to minestrone, except without the pasta. Definitely into batch making soup for lunches right now.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching your 50th follower!
ReplyDeleteNow you're up to 52! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI like orange and pink together. Seems like the fav color combo of an 8 year old. I'm just a couple years older. ;)
It's not until the last couple of years that I've been much of a soup eater. I do like it in the winter now. Taco Soup is good - and my son who's 22 will eat it even though it has beans in it. White Chicken Chili is another favorite.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could be #50!! My favorite color combo could be orange and blue (Go Gators!) but to be safe, I'll say anything bright, but especially aqua and orange or pink!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE soup even though it takes forever to cool off down here...I have an awesome black bean soup that is killer, but I also love chili, broccoli and cheese, or potato.

ReplyDeleteI love soup in general, but one that is delicious and you may not have tried is courgette and lemon soup. Yum!
Congratulations on the first 50! I dont think I have a favourite in colour combinations as I see new ones all the time! I suppose at the moment I'm really loving all shades of grey & black, with a hint of one shade of a colour... Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteFavourite soup? Well, you cant beat a good bowl of tomato soup!
ReplyDeleteToni you are a riot and deserve 500 readers! Oddly enough just yesterday my color choices shifted to pastel. What the what? I mean it is fall and I'm lusting over palest of pink, turquoise blues, beige and eggshell. What is wrong with me?
ReplyDeleteOh and Potato Leek...with a side of cheesy bread. Yum. Now I'm hungry...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 50 followers!
ReplyDeletehmmm. Favourite colour combination. Red and white is the first thing that springs to mind...
Soups, nothing beats tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches for comfort food.
Congratulation! 50 followers is amazing and a good reason to celebrate :)
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite combination is still different shades of blue but in the last weeks I have seen so many lovely things that I have to rethink. Even things made out of green looked amazing ...
And soup? I am sorry but I don't like soup! Not any kind of soup and everytime I try it it doesn't taste better. Just my son (8) makes the most lovely vegetable soup in the world and that's the only one served in my house *gg*
Congratulations, Toni!! What a lovely, generous giveaway :) I think my fave color combo at the moment is probably gray with aqua to medium teal blue paired with orange.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's chilly where you are???? Oh, so jealous!!! ;) My fave soup is French Onion soup, it's my all-time favorite, and I love to make it myself. Here's my recipe:
ReplyDeleteFrench Onion Soup
adapted from The America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook
2 tbsp unsalted butter
5 medium red onions (about 3 pounds), halved and sliced thin
2 tsp minced fresh thyme or 1/2 tsp dried
Salt
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1 3/4 cups low-sodium beef broth
2 bay leaves
Pepper
Baguette, sliced 1/2" thick
8 oz Swiss cheese, shredded (2 cups)
1. Melt the butter in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onions, thyme, and 1/2 tsp salt. cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are dark and sticky, about 30 minutes.
2. Stir in the vinegar and scrape the browned crust from the pot. Stir in the chicken broth, beef broth and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and discard the bay leaves.
3. Adjust an oven rack to the middle position and heat the oven to 450 degrees. Arrange oven-sade soup bowls on a rimmed baking sheet and ladle the soup into them. Top each bowl with 2 baguette slices and sprinkle each with 1/4 cup cheese. Bake until cheese is bubbling and slightly browned - around 5 minutes.
Congrats on the 50 followers- you can count me as one more :)

I love red/aqua together. I just recently completed a quilt in pink/brown, and that turned out beautifully. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm. I love won ton soup. Sounds good right now.
ReplyDeleteA soup recipe .... Now that the sun is finally shining here!
ReplyDeleteNo way: I like hot pancakes with vanilla yoghurt or apple sauce on them.
It seems Dutch use apple sauce for anything, though I believe it's been in decline the last decade. Add a litte cinnamon (& sugar?) and you're in heaven!
Hawthorne Threads, that's the one you can search for colour, isn't it?
Congratulations to your 50 FANS!
Ooh, sorry I'm just now getting over to enter this lovely giveaway. :) My favorite kind of soup is the loaded baked potato kind...with cheese and bacon bits. Or French Onion!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having 50 followers! I'm your 50+th -- I made a needle book the other day out of your fussy cut charms and then realized I'd forgotten to follow your blog! :}
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that I have a favorite color combination, but today I like purple and grey.
When I go to restaurants, I'm a sucker for anything listed as a bisque. Especially bisque with pumpkin in it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 50 followers! I hope to get there someday. Thanks for the celebratory giveaway opportunity. Favorite soup: Escarole and Beans (or any variation thereof). Favorite color combo: really hard to narrow it down to one since there are so many wonderful combos out there; I guess I'd say teal and orange.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I had 50 followers last week but I lost one this week :(
ReplyDeleteI guess that means I'm being a little boring. Thanks for reminding me about your giveaway x
Congrats on reaching 50 followers. I don't have a favourite colour combination but do find that I like anything with grey. Currently working on something with grey and yellow. Thanks for the generous giveaway.
